About the artwork: “María de Cleofás” (Mary of Clopas), also spelled Mary of Clepophas. While it is not entirely clear who Maria de Cleofas was, some scholars interpret her possibly to be closely related to Christ either through marriage or blood, the Bible places her at the cross and then again at the tomb to anoint Jesus’s body with spices.

About the artist: Julie Ann Lake-Díaz is a Chilean-American painter, born to a Chilean mother and British-American father in Salt Lake City, Utah. Having been raised between Salt Lake, and 6 years in Santiago, Chile and Rosario, Argentina, her work reflects life experiences and traditions of those regions. Julie Ann spent an additional 3 years in Europe between Italy and Sweden where her love for art and design continued to expand. She has a degree in Interior Design, and has studied art the last year and a half with Kirk Richards, and also includes studying with artists Andrew Payne, Rob Adamson, Lester Lee, and workshop with Brad Teare.
Julie Ann currently lives in South Jordan, Utah with her husband Brandon and four children.
