About the artwork: María Magdalena (Mary Magdalene) was a deeply devout follower of Christ. She was closely tied to his ministry and is believed to help support with financial means as well. She is mentioned many times in the cannons and is recorded to be present at His crucifixion and at the tomb at the time of Christ’s resurrection.
The idea originating from Pope Gregory in the 6th century, portraying her as a prostitute are his and there is no mention of this in the Bible.

About the artist: Julie Ann Lake-Díaz is a Chilean-American painter, born to a Chilean mother and British-American father in Salt Lake City, Utah. Having been raised between Salt Lake, and 6 years in Santiago, Chile and Rosario, Argentina, her work reflects life experiences and traditions of those regions. Julie Ann spent an additional 3 years in Europe between Italy and Sweden where her love for art and design continued to expand. She has a degree in Interior Design, and has studied art the last year and a half with Kirk Richards, and also includes studying with artists Andrew Payne, Rob Adamson, Lester Lee, and workshop with Brad Teare.
Julie Ann currently lives in South Jordan, Utah with her husband Brandon and four children.
