About the Artwork: These sister-paintings, “Promise” & “Harvest”, hold multiple layers of meaning– from my personal struggle with infertility, to good things I’m trying to cultivate in life, to my belief that our society will continually improve and engage in racial understanding.

I was moved by the symbolism of pear trees– that they, like many other fruit trees, cannot pollinate themselves but rely on other pear varieties nearby to mingle pollen with. It is only by new things coming together that precious fruit can be formed and enjoyed. As the fruit ripens, the pear tree begins to form next year’s buds to continue the beautiful cycle.

One thing I felt deeply is that pear trees can take 3-10 years to begin bearing fruit. I felt the yearning of years– a tree wanting to fulfill its purpose in creation, holding to the hope that God would make it fruitful. These paintings allude to the full arc of the story–– for the striving and submitting, for the praying and preparing, for the promise and fulfillment.

About the Artist: Ginger Dall Egbert is a young, half-Filipina artist who expresses faith, healing and sanctuary with her symbolic paintings. Her mixed-media works combine gold leaf, metallic pigments, oil paint and acrylic. In Ginger’s words, “I constantly incorporate gold in my paintings because nothing else communicates the spiritual transcendence we’re all searching for. If we can catch that elusive light shimmering on its surface, perhaps we can harness other things in our pursuit for Meaning and the Divine.” Also in Ginger’s words: “I am grateful for those willing to hold space for people of different ethnicities, mindsets, & orientations to celebrate their unique stories. I personally feel so much gratitude for the beautiful mixture of my heritage & upbringing that makes me who I am. As the progeny of hard-working, immigrant grandparents (and hard-working, non-immigrant grandparents)... and as the product of an “interracial marriage”, I believe our society’s future is continually inclusive and hopeful. I see human compassion everywhere I go–– efforts combining to relieve disparity, minds opening to the experiences of others’, and all those advocating for peace.” Two of Ginger’s works are available for sale in the “BIPOC Women of Utah Art Show”, titled “Promise” & “Harvest”.
