Twine,
Twigs,
Earth and Feathers.
Sewn together tight.
Three blue gems
Cradled gently
Though none will know flight.
This nest rests not at the top
But near the feet Among the branches
That fell from the willow tree.
After writing this poem I decided to create this piece using a process I call "There and Back Again". Once the poem was written by hand I typed it into an AI art program that converted my words into a digital visual medium. After refining the result in photoshop I printed the image out and embellished the print with physical paint to create a more tactile surface.
This process takes the art piece from a physical state, to digital, and then back to a finished physical piece. Ultimately, this push and pull is an exploration of the tension art is facing in our innovative age and is driven by questions of integration and symbiosis. How can raw creativity and technology be combined to produce an emotionally provocative art piece?
Honestly, I do not have the answers. However, my hope is that in seeing this piece and understanding the process will help you ask questions of your own as you contemplate original art and its place in an evolving technology driven landscape.
