Wings of Refraction (Oil paint on board)
This piece is meant to invoke a sense of peace and warmth as the audience takes in both the warm light of the window, and the refracted light casting halos around the woman and the dove.
The Winds and Waves Shall Know His Voice (Oil on board)
The Winds and Waves Shall Know His Voice” is the first painting I have ever made showing the face of Christ. There is something deeply moving about studying and painting our Savior, especially on such a small surface. Painting so tiny forced me to get closer and take more time studying His face until every detail felt just right, and I came away feeling as though I knew Him in a new light. In this portrayal I chose to render Christ as sure and unwavering, in the midst of tempestuous waves and turbulent skies. I hope to capture the profound sense of tranquility and hope our Savior brings when the world around us is full of chaos and uncertainty. I invite viewers to contemplate their own storms, past and present. May this painting serve as a reminder that just as Christ’s presence pacified the raging sea, so will it pacify your own tempests. He knows you, He sees your struggles, and His peace transcends any storm.
Wade Through the Stars (Oil on board)
This piece embodies the idea that the natural world holds a profound connection to us spiritually, a connection we often overlook in our busy lives. We don’t take time to relish in the beauty of simply being alive, in a living world, made by masterful hands. The tiger, a symbol of strength and grace, explores the boundless possibilities that lie beyond his immediate surroundings. Through this artwork, I hope to inspire viewers to ponder the mysteries of existence, embrace their own inner strength, and appreciate the wonder of the universe that envelops us all.
Midsummer (Oil on board)
In my painting, "Midsummer," I aim to capture the essence of a fleeting yet enchanting moment, where the convergence of light, nature, and humanity intertwine. The woman’s presence amidst the blooming flower field and flying owl symbolizes the harmonious connection between humanity and the natural world. Through this artwork, I invite viewers to experience the warmth of the sun, the fragrant blooms, and the freedom of flight alongside the woman and the owl. "Midsummer" is a celebration of life's ephemeral beauty, encouraging us to savor the present moment and recognize our place within the boundless wonder of the universe.
Stealing a Glance At Golden Hour (Oil and gold leaf on board)
In "Stealing a Glance at Golden Hour," I sought to capture the intimacy of a stolen moment, a fleeting exchange of gazes between strangers. Bathed in the sun's gentle radiance, the illuminated eye draws viewers into a world where time slows, and the ordinary becomes extraordinary. We find ourselves in the midst of a quiet dialogue between the painted eye and our own experience, inviting us to reflect on the beauty of the world around us and the significance of the connections we share.
Observing the Nymphaeaceae (Mixed media on board)
What most strikes me about nature is the impression that it gives when observed rather than it’s literal appearance. In “Observing the Nymphaeaceae”, I set out to explore the feeling I experience when gazing upon water lilies. This is not meant to be a painting in realism, but a painting in emotional connection. As observers engage with the painting, they are invited to not only witness the colorful water lilies but also to feel them, to immerse themselves in the richness of their hues and textures. It's a visual and emotional experience that resonates deeply, drawing viewers into the vibrant tapestry of nature's beauty and the intricate world of human perception.
