Artist Biography: Julie Berry's artistic journey spans decades, originating from her formative years at Brigham Young University where she earned a BFA in the early 1980s. Throughout the years, her creative journey has evolved across various mediums and expressions. For two decades, she honed her craft as a decorative artist, leaving her mark on spaces across Texas, Chicago, New York City, and Florida with residential and commercial murals and wall finishes.

However, Julie's most cherished creations emerge from her role as a mother to five children and as Mimi to 19 grandchildren. Following a remarriage and "retirement" in 2022, supported by her loving husband and family, Julie embraced a new chapter in her artistic pursuit, free from the constraints of commission work.

As an artist, Julie sees herself as a storyteller, particularly when portraying individuals. Each piece she creates begins with a portrait, serving as the foundation upon which layers of her own mono-prints, fabrics, and other embellishments are added, weaving intricate narratives. Embracing collage techniques, Julie breathes life into her work, infusing it with the essence of both the artist and the subject. Every portrait becomes an adventurous exploration, delving into the unique qualities and characteristics of each her people.

In recent years, Julie's artistic talents has garnered recognition, including acceptance into three prestigious Springville Museum of Art Shows and being the featured artist at the 2024 CNS Art and Soup Show. Fondly referring to her creations as her "people," Julie finds joy in knowing that her art has found its place in the world.
