Artist Statement: There is just something that is so joyful about fruit to me; the colors, the textures and flavors, of course! As the summer comes to a close, I am reminded of summers long ago eating fresh strawberry shortcake on my birthday with friends. I also still remember squeezing fresh limeade to sell with my sister and counting all those quarters. So many joyous memories around these brightly colored fruits! I hope I have captured the feeling of childhood summers in this tiny series. Which fruit sparks a cherished memory for you?
Artist Biography: Kathleen was born and raised in West Texas. She enjoys gardening, modern quilting and camping with her husband and 7-year-old daughter. She was an art teacher for 14 years and has shifted careers recently to home educating her daughter, oil painting and running her business while also tending to her flock of 8 chickens. She currently lives in Northern Utah.
