Artist Statement: In the personal mythology of my work, “Fur Woman” represents the raw and wild mother and the duality of her anxiety and fearlessness, her self-preservation and selflessness in the face of creation and death.
Artist Bio: Mya Cluff is a studio artist living and working in Belgrade, Montana. Born and raised in Oregon, she moved to Montana in 2017 after graduating from the Oregon College of Art and Craft where she received a BFA in Craft with an emphasis in Ceramics. Cluff has received multiple local and national grants, and has been included in written publications such as the book “An Artist and a Mother,” for which she contributed a chapter on her work and practice.
Cluff has been a short-term resident at studios such as Red Lodge Clay Center (2019), Pentaculum at Arrowmont (2023), and Chehalem Cultural Center (2024). In 2025 she received the 2nd place purchase prize from the Montana Museum of Art and Culture for her work in the exhibition "19 under 39.” Her most recent solo exhibition "The Bones Beneath" opened at Salem Art Association in Salem, OR, and will travel to Bozeman, MT at the beginning of 2027. Cluff is currently a candidate for a Masters in Fine Art from Montana State University, '28.
