Artist Statement: Is there any creation that doesn’t require some destruction? A seedling’s roots must break the soil. Wheat must be harvested, onions chopped, eggs broken. Sand is melted, pigment is ground, wood is shredded and pressed, wool is sheared. And so it is in our lives. We will be broken in the process of our own creation. We will endure broken hearts, bodies, minds, homes, relationships. And yet, in this brokenness, there is an opportunity for growth and creation. Is there anything on earth that hasn’t been repurposed, reformed, remade? And so you, you are strong enough to be repurposed, reformed, and remade as well. The beauty will be in the repair.
