Artist Statement: Awakening, she saw the savior, then I imagine she looked over to her parents, who moments ago had been heartbroken and devastated at their loss. They had faith for a miracle of healing, but their precious daughter passed away while Jairus was leading Christ to their home. Hope was lost…. But only for a time, because the Savior still came. He took Jairus’ daughter by the hand, and raised her up. What a miraculous moment for Jairus and his wife, to behold the flush of life in their daughters face again and Christs power to save. While planning this painting I was reminded that all of us will have this moment someday with those we’ve loved on earth. While we may not have this identical miracle, (a raising from the dead like Jairus daughter) Someday, because of the Savior we will see our loved ones we lost too soon looking back at us.
