Artist Statement: My claim on the idea of reason and revelation, or the mind and the hear, or reason and faith, is that they are not antithetical to one another, but completely harmonious. In fact, I believe that one, when outweighing the other, can cause some extreme unbalance and disorganization in the human spirit. We are commanded to listen to the Holy Ghost through both avenues. D&C 8:2-5 2 Yea, behold, I will tell you in your mind and in your heart, by the Holy Ghost… Therefore this is thy gift; apply unto it, and blessed art thou, for it shall deliver you out of the hands of your enemies,...Oh, remember these words, and keep my commandments. Remember, this is your gift.
Artist Bio: Carly White is an artist from. Las Vegas especially interested in the intersection of the human figure and the human spirit. She attempts to paint Telestial subjects with what she often calls, "celestial colors" in hopes of merging the two worlds. Her husband is her biggest supporter. When she offered to stop art for a time to take care of their baby, he said, “No. Absolutely not. You have a legacy to create.” And so she is endeavoring to create that legacy one babysitter and microwaved burrito at a time.
