About the Artwork: A haku is a lei made to be worn on the head. In Hawaii, leis are a sign of Aloha and are usually worn and gifted as a form of celebration or welcome. They are most often used at weddings and graduations but don't actually need a special occasion. My sisters and I made many hakus and leis back when we lived in Hawaii, and though not as often, we still make the occasional haku here in Utah.
