About the Artist:
Hank Mattson is an interdisciplinary artist living in Salt Lake City. Relocating to Utah in 2015, Hank spent most of his life on sunny California beaches and scorched Arizona deserts. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Northern Arizona University and studied Italian art and culture in Siena, Italy. Having worked in nearly every artistic medium, Hank now prefers oil paints for their freedom of application and exploratory nature. Never mild, his paintings balance unusual colors and sculpturesque texturing. When not painting, Hank can be found skateboarding, cooking, reading fiction, and spending time with family.
