Artist Statement: We all experience seasons of darkness as with lonely nights when storm clouds veil the stars and moon, obscuring our path forward. Yet sunrise always comes, bringing light after the long night. The breaks in the clouds shine like the glimmers of hope and joy that can spontaneously appear even in bleak times. They remind us that this too shall pass. Difficult seasons lead to growth, shaping wisdom and resilience. Out of the ashes, beauty is born. Our most treasured blessings are ones earned through trials. For without tasting sorrow, happiness would hold no sweetness. Without darkness, we could never fully appreciate the light. The emerging radiance in "Heaven is Near" symbolizes the promise of better days ahead. No night is so dark that dawn will not come. Keep faith through the shadows, take heart. Heaven is near. The sun rises again, just as it always has.

Artist Bio: Joel Lundell was raised in the safety and freedom of a small Southern Utah town, surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. Endless childhood adventures in this rural environment fostered a deep appreciation for the wonders of the world and a passion for creativity. During solitary desert hikes, Joel became enthralled by the ever-changing artistry displayed across the canvas of the sky. The majestic cloud formations never failed to elicit feelings of hope, awe, and gratitude. This early fascination led him to focus his artistic talents on capturing the ephemeral beauty of the heavens through acrylic painting. Joel also found inspiration in the unique rock and sand formations carved through centuries of wind and water erosion. The fluid shapes and textures spoke to his creative spirit. After years of enthralled exploration, Joel now brings the wonder of the rugged land to life through abstract sculptures hand-carved from stone and wood. Both Joel's cloud-centric paintings and earth-inspired sculptures transport the viewer, reigniting the childlike joy of discovery. Delicate brushwork and masterful use of color mimic the soft billows and vibrant hues of the ever-changing skies. Organic, flowing lines and bold multidimensional shapes reflect the raw natural elegance of the landscapes that left an indelible imprint. Joel's artistry allows others to experience the sense of hope, gratitude, and connection to something larger than ourselves that the majesty of nature evokes.
