Artist Statement: My vision and thoughts, as this piece has taken shape, represents the complexities of self care and authenticity. “Hidden Faces” tells a story of the continual unveiling of the soul, the light, life and love within each of us. In contrast, the story exhibits the shadows and depth of where one might hide parts of oneself. There are repeated shapes that represent a vessel or vessels. They are opened at the top as to take in life as it comes, creating a narrative to your story. The bottom of the vessel is cup shaped representing a place to safely hold what is yours. As you look to the top of the painting, you will see the vessels in the dark or shadows. As your eye moves about the art, light begins to illuminate, color is introduced, shape is more defined. Using your imagination, you might be able to see 2 faces. One looking to the right and one looking forward. My hope is to illustrate the layers of life and personal journey through, “HIDDEN FACES”.
