About the Artwork:
My physical therapist loved the phrase "improve by degrees." The end goal seemed so far and impossible, so he would have us focus on moving just one little degree at a time. After time the growth became more and more visible, and that has been true for many areas of my life. This piece is about remembering that it's okay to start small and it's okay if the growth is almost imperceptible now. This piece is about looking back and knowing how far you have come. Each year in the fall little maple seeds helicopter around our home, coming down from huge maples, and this piece is made from one of those a giant maple trees that lost a limb in a windstorm on our property. Nature's example of growth from seed to blossom, or tree, or fruit, is so inspiring.
