Whitney Ostebo
I learned going into the dark well of the heart, the world is already filled with light
Oil on canvas
24 x 24 inches
$600
One day the ground beneath my feet shifted,
My foundation crumbled into pieces
I felt beyond repair
As I sat in the rubble, sorting through the mess
I saw myself for the first time.
Right in the middle of my utter destruction.
Buried under all the limiting beliefs
Buried under all the conditions i had to meet
To qualify for love, worth, salvation
I saw my shadow side.
The warm Living Water, the light rushed in.
It was inside me all along, the dam broke.
The water, the light rushed through me and set me free
Perhaps the cracks are how the light gets out.
And then I saw it, every inch and every particle of it, light.
In every flower, every leaf, every creature, every human being
is an intricate web of light, woven into every fiber of being
with the same matter as the stars. Body and soul integrated,
no longer disconnected from the unconditional love of the Divine Feminine,
the water, the light that pulses through all life.
