Artist: Janine Crum
Title: Let Hope Rise
Material: Oil on Archival Paper
About the artwork: Painting expressive landscapes has allowed me to capture physical and emotional spaces visually. “Let Hope Rise” was painted specifically for the JKR Gallery Show in Provo, UT on the theme of “A New Page” and utilizes the cloud motif that is seen throughout my work. Specifically focusing on the hope, joy, and effervescence of bright blue skies full of fluffy, white clouds, “Let Hope Rise” depicts the feeling of hopefulness that comes with leaving the old behind and looking ahead towards what is to come.
About the artist:
Westerville, Ohio-based oil painter Janine Crum masterfully creates deeply introspective works emphasizing the emotional and physical landscape.
Recently merging both her interests in mental health awareness and the stormy skies of the Midwest, she has been able to capture a wide range of emotions with her beautiful, expressive landscapes. As a result, she has given voice to both the beauty and power of an often overlooked phenomenon, thunderstorms, while exploring the development and effects of hardship and hope through the lens of the sky.
Through this exploration, she has been able to depict a wide range of emotions by capturing a specific mood through color, cloud shape, and atmosphere.
Janine’s work on hope and hardship can be seen in various online and print capacities and has been featured in local and national juried exhibitions.
