Artist Statement: As I have studied births and seen so many mothers and their children be born through an act of pain, blood, and love, I have come to understand how unqualified I am. Mothers are incredible, they are miraculous, they are Celestial. Their influence and power extends beyond this life in both the heavens, and future generations. I spent a year speaking with young mothers, old mothers, doulas, and with women who have struggled to have children. And I spent a year grasping at straws trying paint something I still understand so little about. After all of that I have learned one beautiful, and important truth. Women are powerful.
