Artist Statement: This painting is a scene I encountered while hiking in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The sun had come back out after a quick rain, creating a beautiful misty light. I wanted to paint the overabundance of information put out by all the dense foliage, and in navigating through that maze, do my best to represent how beautiful it all felt in that moment.
