Artist: Siwa Allred Title: Purple Mountains and Rabbitbrush Material: Acrylic About the artwork: When I moved to Utah from Hawaii I had assumed that because it is a desert state, the landscape would be colorless and dead. As an artist, I dreaded that. I was delighted, however, to find that although Utah does not have the same blues and bright greens I was used to, it does have its own vividly beautiful colors. Moving to Utah was my discovery of a whole new palette; a new start of red stone and creamy goldfields of purple mountains, and brilliant yellow rabbitbrush.
