Artist Bio: Kyeisha is a Jamaican and Thai British multidisciplinary artist and activist who creates work centred around people of colour (POC), specifically women of colour and their unity and diversity. Recently graduated from Brigham Young University with a BFA in Studio Art, she hopes to continue residing and creating in Salt Lake City, UT. Her work explores political topics, such as the intersectionality between race and gender, sexual assault, and racial equality movements. She also depicts POC’s everyday life experiences and divinity, rather than needing their stories to always be political acts. Kyeisha draws on both the struggles and celebrations of her multi-racial immigrant experience, and pulls from her own stories as a sexual assault and abuse survivor. She works with gouache, acrylic, watercolour, digital illustration, and guerilla art to shine a light on these intersecting marginalised identities and communities.
