Artist statement: The last few years of my life have involved a lot of change and self discovery. I have been on a journey of learning more about myself and have felt a sense of “Rebirth” along the way. I knew of the symbolism of lotus flowers and they seemed to be showing up everywhere in my life. I felt the need to learn more about them and paint this representation of my path in life. A lotus remains pure despite a muddy environment. It rises above to show its peace, and shows how beautiful a new beginning can be.
