Artist Statement: Thousands of feet of black water surround Jonah. His protection? The whale. With enough time, the creature will surely kill him as well. Jonah is in the depths of hell, at the bottom of the world, completely alone and forgotten.
But God. God, whose love reaches any height and depth has cradled Jonah in his hands unceasingly. Although this creature seems like death’s messenger, it is God’s unconventional, yet prepared rescue plan. The whale is Jonah’s vessel for rebirth.
