Artist Statement: “God is the One Who created seven heavens, in layers, and likewise for the earth…” [Quran 65:12] Islamic geometric patterns that are seven-folds or multiples of seven are rare and difficult to construct. This piece was made to explore the mathematical complexity of a seven fold pattern that was once carved into the wooden doors of a mosque in 13th century Anatolia. The pattern was reconstructed and rendered into a stained glass panel to help evoke a calming and reflective state as one meditates on God's Infinite Beauty and Grace.
