Artist Statement: Why use a fancy new pot when a bucket works just the same? Those were my parents' thoughts when they first planted this strawberry plant. It turns out plastic buckets don’t hold up well over time, and the bucket starts to break a bit whenever you shift it. However, the strawberries don’t seem to mind and they grow just the same.
Artist Biography: Amanda Yim is a Cambodian-American based out of the Bay Area, California. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s in Art and works primarily in oil and acrylic. She is currently exhibiting work in galleries both in California and Utah, and works as an art instructor in Fremont, CA. Amanda captures moments in her paintings that may feel underappreciated in life, whether it's a plant just starting to grow or a cozy space in a home that often gets overlooked.
