Artist Statement: Walking along the riverbed in Capitol Reef National Park, I found myself delighted every time I looked around a bend. Towering red walls greeted me, with green shrubs and trees in incomprehensible places, in cracks and at heights I couldn't believe. The dessert is a beautiful place, especially at the root of where life is found: water.
