Artist Statement: These three pieces are inspired by the late Annie Blake, a beloved local artist who died of pancreatic cancer in 2020. Of this series, Becca writes: “Although Annie and I were great friends for nearly a decade, she and I only ever showed our work together once. One of Annie’s pieces included the words: ‘There are ghosts in this house, and I know their names.’ These words stayed with me for years, and they became even more poignant after Annie’s unexpected illness and passing in 2020. As you view these pieces, I hope you begin to recall your own ghosts—doing the most familiar things, found in the most familiar places. Perhaps you even know their names.”
Artist Biography: Becca Lee is a Provo artist and illustrator who is best known as the Haunted Librarian, creator of a popular webcomic and art series of the same name. Strongly influenced by the humorous and macabre, Becca's work often includes whimsical depictions of haunted subjects.
