Artist Statement: Tangerine trees are symbolic of new beginnings. In this painting one sees a tangerine tree front and center encircled in gold leaf. Surrounding the tangerine tree are flowers and plants that are native to India — one of the places to which tangerine trees are indigenous. Some of these plants include Pigeon Pea flowers and fruit, Vinca flowers, African Blood Lilies, and Crepe Ginger.
