About the Artwork: The Blue Mosque was built in the 17th century adjacent to the Hagia Sophia. It derives its name from the nearly 20,000 hand-painted glazed ceramic tiles with 60 different tulip patterns. There is incredible beauty in the architecture of this mosque. This perspective captures some of its incredible complexity and a portion of the visual feast.
