Artist Statement: The Lamb of God symbolizes gentleness and peace. The Savior is mercy and goodness and love. The Savior is the sacrificial lamb that died for us all -- the lamb that suffered all we might endure, so he could be a refuge. The Lamb is surrounded by symbols of peace: white poppies and olive branches and palm fronds. The Savior is also symbolized by the bread which is the source of spiritual strength and sustenance. This bread is also representative of the sacrament. The Lamb is also surrounded by living water which alludes to The Woman at the Well and also the sacrament. The cleansing power of baptism and also the necessity of water for life. Finally, atop The Lamb is perched a dove - another symbol of peace - but also a representation of the Holy Ghost at the Savior’s baptism.
