About the Artwork:
I found this show to be an excellent opportunity to explore variations on my work. I decided to see what it would be like if my painting began as a rectangle which then blossomed into an abstract shape. This scene of a historic barn with a large pine tree (a frequent subject in my work) provided the perfect opportunity as the pine tree became the panel's final shape.

I live and work in a former cigar factory in Souderton PA with my wife Heather (a glass and jewelry artist) and our dog Crusher. Most of my work is painted in oil pastels: messy, rich, and a unique blend of drawing & painting. My focus is on the everyday scene that might go overlooked but is totally worth acknowledging as a painting. I want to bring the viewer into the moment when inspiration struck. That inspiration usually comes in the form of skies, trees, rolling fields, well-worn barns, and industrial sites.
