Artist Statement: Every bit of this painting was completed as a Nocturne, outdoors after sunset, hence the name ‘Umbra’ which means shadow or darkness. You can feel the quiet, crisp autumn air next to the pond where they grew. The layers in this painting are thick and full of texture as they pick up the light shining into the reeds.
Artist Bio: I’m a botanical artist, specializing in Birth Flower Family Paintings. I’m a deep believer that the things you hang on your walls should matter. I find so much joy in nature and the botanical world, and you’ll find that influence in all of my paintings. Outside of painting, you'll find my husband and I busy with our one year old daughter, camping, hiking, and learning how to garden.
