About the Artist: Kyeisha Selway is an illustrator and student at Brigham Young University, pursuing a BFA in Art. She is a mixed-race British artist who creates work centred around people of colour, specifically women of colour and about their unity and diversity. Her work explores political topics, such as the intersectionality between race and sexual assault, LGBTQ+ and racial equality movements. She also depicts BIPOC’s everyday life experiences, rather than needing their stories to always be political acts. Kyeisha draws on both her struggles and celebrations of her mixed-race experience and pulls from her own stories as a sexual assault survivor. She works with gouache, watercolour, acrylic paint, as well as digital illustrations and guerilla/street art to shine a light on these intersecting marginalised communities.
