About the artwork: These pieces are from a series called "Ay Que Bonito es Volar." Much of my childhood was spent learning traditional dances from my mother (who posed for Veracruz 1 and Veracruz 3). Dance, dress, and performance continue to be part of my life and that of my sisters' as adults, and our children as well. It is, to me, a magical & mystical connection to a country in which I never lived, but will always contribute to my sense of self and the way I move through world.
