The mountains are always present. A constant backdrop to my childhood memories. I grew and played and slept in the shadow of this mountain. As I continue on, it remains.
About the Artist:
Growing up in Utah, with its majestic mountains, stark deserts and everything in between, these landscapes are the anchors of my memories as a child and now with my own family. Both on foot and with paint, I love exploring what is just outside my door. Using the patterns, shapes, and textures that I see, I try to capture a moment in time of a landscape, rather than trying to exactly reproduce the scene.
Working with watercolors is a soothing and meditative process, but as a mother of three, interruptions happen often. The result is that I build layers on layers with watercolor, allowing me to step away and be present with my family and then return to create an even more vivid landscape.
Creativity and art have fueled much of my life, including obtaining and BFA from the University of Utah, but I am just beginning my art career.
