About the Artwork:
Do you remember the moment you first realized someone far away could see the same constellations as you? I started making these house shaped paintings on hand cut wood during the global shelter in place. While we have our unique stories, a glimpse of the night sky can connect people across continents. These paintings capture the hope we feel when we recognize what we share. I call this series Share the Sky.
About the Artist:
Kim Cardoso is from Baltimore, Maryland. She received her degree in art and psychology and worked for several years as a metalsmith before settling into painting. Her work has been exhibited across the US and is collected internationally. The International Encaustic Artists recently awarded her a grant to further her 1000 Series about California's volcanic landscape. She lives and paints in Oakland, California on a tiny urban farm with her family, two dogs, and four chickens and continues to work as a midwife in community health.
