Artist Statement: "He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not." I've always been touched by this scripture, foretelling personal aspects of Christ's earthly experience. Though we live in a time when negative emotion is often thwarted, Christ showed us how to grieve, while also holding onto and giving us reason to hope. This is the sentiment I hope to express with the expression of this portrait.
Artist Biography: Stacy Weitz Minch is an artist based in Vineyard, UT. She studied traditional drawing and painting at the Master's Academy of Art in Springville, UT. In her work, Stacy endeavors to process her own experiences by translating them into universal visual essays, while continuing to add to the eternal conversation that is representational art.
