Artist: Angie Sandberg
Title: Pomegranates
Medium: Watercolor, colored pencil, thread
Dimensions: 8 x 11 ½ inches
Price: $300
Artist Statement: This painting of pomegranates was accidentally sliced apart when I had finished painting it and went to trim it down to size. I didn’t realize my error in slicing until after it was too late. I decided to repair it in the spirit of kintsugi, the Japanese art of mending broken pottery with gold or platinum lacquer to make the break a feature, not a mistake. May the golden threads of this painting serve to remind us that we are never truly broken or beyond repair.
Artist Bio: Angela (Angie) Sandberg paints, draws, and makes the occasional comic from her home in Utah’s Salt Lake Valley.
