Artist Statement: For years I wondered if something might be wrong with me. I felt things deeply. I was sensitive. News stories would bother me to the point that I’d think about them endlessly. Stories of abuse haunted me. The state of the world affects my mental well being. Recently I’ve seen a rise of public indifference. So many people seem to just not care about the suffering of others, or worse, cheer it on. I’ve come to realize that I’m grateful for my sensitivity. I’d rather feel too much than not enough.
Artist Bio: Anita graduated from the University of Utah in 1996 with BFA in Studio Art. Anita is both a painter and a photographer and enjoys exploring different mediums in her artwork. In addition to her work being featured in a multitude of galleries and publications, she has also taught art through continuing education classes, an alternative high school drawing class in Box Elder County, and as an alternative photography processes substitute at Salt Lake Community College. She was also the photography program director for CLASS Art School. She has received multiple awards throughout her career, including an Honorable Mention in 2023 for the Workshop13 exhibit RED, an Award of Merit in 2022 from the Utah Women Artists Exhibit, Best of Show in 2020 at the Box Elder Museum Photography group exhibit. She lives in Springville, Utah with her husband.
