Artist Statement: In a piece derived from her graphic novel Apos, the artist examines the inner world of a sister missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While striving to remain obedient and give her all to an experience she once thought she would love, the sister finds herself struggling instead. In order of size, the dolls represent: The Shiny Exterior, Losing Heart, Rumination/Surface Mental Processing, Dissociative State, Panic/Rage/Fear, The Inner Child, and The Inner Spirit.
Artist Bio: Anna M. Wright is an illustrator from Pennsylvania. Her work often examines the nuance of her religious faith and its members. Anna received her BFA in Illustration from Brigham Young University. She loves history, lemon squares, and old books.
