Artist Statement: The title is inspired by Psalms 46:10, “Be still and know that I am God,” and from the hymn, “Be Still My Soul”: “The winds and waves still know the voice of Him who ruled them while He dwelt below.”
When the whole world is in commotion, and my own tempests are raging, stillness provides an anchor to the Source of peace.
Artist Bio: Anne Gregerson sculpts introspective female ceramic figures that reflect her own spiritual journey. Anne grew up in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and has also lived in Arizona and Utah. She first studied sculpture at Tucson Museum of Art School with Michael Cajero, and later received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Sculpture from Brigham Young University. She also completed K-12 Art Education certification and taught art for several years in Utah schools. She has also taught workshops for adults, teens, and children in multiple venues including Art Access in Salt Lake City. Anne later returned to BYU for graduate work in ceramics, and continues to learn from favorite ceramic figurative artists through workshops. She currently works in her Provo studio. She exhibits her work mostly in regional shows, and is represented by the A Gallery in Salt Lake City, Utah.
