Welcoming Ray (Acrylic on mdf) -
This painting is one from a collection of 6 others inspired by a sunrise hike I went on this summer with several teenage girls from our church group. We were at girls camp and hiked to the top of the mountain early in the morning, and waited for the sunrise to come. As we admired God's beautiful creations in the mountains at dawn, our group came up with different analogies of Jesus and the sunrise. It was a spiritually strengthening experience. I recommend this exercise, as there are many symbolic truths that can be found when pondering this topic. This is the moment I noticed how the growth off the trail that otherwise would have seemed mundane was glowing from the first rays that welcomed us that morning.

This specific spot was right before dawn when the surrounding cool colors had such a beautiful contrast against the pink horizon.
