About the Artwork:

Pensive Christ #1 (New Testament) - The Pensive Christ is an important image to me because of my Lithuanian heritage--it is a Christian icon there. It first appeared in folk art wood carvings in the 14th Century. The figure shows Jesus in contemplation between his scourging and crucifixion. Lithuanian Christians believe it shows how Christ was human and shared our feelings and concerns. This image was printed with verses from the New Testament related to these events.

Pensive Christ #2 (dark red) - The Pensive Christ is an important image to me because of my Lithuanian heritage--it is a Christian icon there. It first appeared in folk art wood carvings in the 14th Century. The figure shows Jesus in contemplation between his scourging and crucifixion. Lithuanian Christians believe it shows how Christ was human and shared our feelings and concerns. This image was printed with deep red paper to represent the sacrifice Christ was about to make for us.

Pensive Christ #3 (Pride colors lt.) - The Pensive Christ is an important image to me because of my Lithuanian heritage--it is a Christian icon there. It first appeared in folk art wood carvings in the 14th Century. The figure shows Jesus in contemplation between his scourging and crucifixion. Lithuanian Christians believe it shows how Christ was human and shared our feelings and concerns. The colors added to this print represent Christ's love for all of us.

Pensive Christ #4 (tie-dye) - The Pensive Christ is an important image to me because of my Lithuanian heritage--it is a Christian icon there. It first appeared in folk art wood carvings in the 14th Century. The figure shows Jesus in contemplation between his scourging and crucifixion. Lithuanian Christians believe it shows how Christ was human and shared our feelings and concerns. I added the tie-dyed paper to this print to give it a lighter feel and perhaps, to see it from a different perspective.

Celtic Cross #1 (yellow center) - The Celtic Cross is also an ancient symbol of my family history in Ireland. My name and self-identity were strongly linked to my Irish roots. The knots in the design of this cross represent faith, unity and eternity. I added colored papers to this print to represent some of the colorful people in my family tree.

Celtic Cross #2 (green) - The Celtic Cross is also an ancient symbol of my family history in Ireland. My name and self-identity were strongly linked to my Irish roots. The knots in the design of this cross represent faith, unity and eternity. I used all the shades of green paper I had to make this print even more Irish.

Celtic Cross#3 (rays) - The Celtic Cross is also an ancient symbol of my family history in Ireland. My name and self-identity were strongly linked to my Irish roots. The knots in the design of this cross represent faith, unity and eternity. The center knot sometimes represents the Godhead--I added rays to emphasize holiness.
