Artist: Katie Benson
Medium: Ink on paper
Titles: Anthurium,
Brazil Heart-leaf, China Doll, Delphinium, Iris, Tulips, Walnuts
About the Artist: Katie Benson works predominantly in oil paint but often branches out into mixed media and new genres. She pays particular attention to issues that we don’t talk about openly enough, such as illness, marginalization, and emotional well-being. Katie graduated from Brigham Young University in 2019 with her BFA in Studio Art.
About the Artwork: My technique is a form of pointillism, using colored ink pens to stipple innumerable tiny dots in a layered system. Drawing in this slow way is a reminder it is okay to take a reprieve from the stressful situations in life and appreciate the emotional sustenance that surrounds us.
