Artist: Tamia Wardle
Medium: 7-color reduction linocut
Titles: Delicate Arch, Double Arch, Landscape Arch, Corona Arch, Owachomo Bridge, Hickman Bridge, Rainbow Bridge
About the Artwork: Relief printmaking removes the "perfection" from my line work that was typical of my previous work as a graphic designer. Although I tend to create some order in my compositions, nature is a perfectly imperfect subject matter like relief printmaking. This is a series of Utah "Arches & Bridges" where I illustrate some of my favorite Utah rock formations.
About the Artist: My love for relief printmaking started when an art teacher introduced me to it when I was a teenager. I fell in love with the technique. I swore that someday I would explore this medium full time. Thirty+ years later, I decided to devote my artistic journey to linoleum & wood block relief printing. I am a printmaker inspired by my roots in illustration and graphic design. With a design degree from the University of Utah, I have been working in the graphic design field for the past 28 years. A few years ago I began my journey as a printmaker and an artist creating art simply for the joy of it.
