Artist Statement: Poppies are often used as a symbol for remembrance and hope for a peaceful future. With bright colors and bold strokes, “Orange Poppies” brings to life the feeling of a hopeful future especially when the past has been laden with hardships.
Artist Bio: Allie Occon grew up in Park City, UT and was inspired by the beauty of the outdoors. She graduated from Utah State University with a BA in Fine Art, taking a great interest in oil painting and stone sculpture. Allie is very fond of the impressionist movement, the classical period, and baroque art. Allie has been creating since her childhood and has always wanted to be an artist. When she’s not creating art, she loves attempting to garden, learning about Christ, training and participating in triathlons, as well as eating chocolate. Allie currently resides in Logan, UT with her husband, her son, and is expecting her second child in July.
