About the artwork: Contemplating the Years' is an introspective piece which yearns for better years to come, but in many ways is still processing the years that have just passed. The grand brush strokes and rough transitions, darkness, and light of the piece represent all the emotions many have experienced during the pandemic. I created it as a reminder to go easy on oneself.
About the artist: Ariane` Kamps is a Canadian painter and illustrator who works in traditional mediums to create figurative works. Her work reflects a deep interest in memory, dream worlds, and the value of the individual's story. Her work ranges from portraiture to surreal dreamlike landscapes that she creates out of her home studio in Penticton, British Columbia.
