Artist Statement:
This piece depicts the Lovers of Valdaro, a pair of human skeletons that were buried 6,000 years ago. They were discovered in a Neolithic tomb in San Giorgio near Mantua, Italy in 2007. The two were buried face to face with their arms around each other, never to part.
Artist Bio:
Becca Lee (they/them) is an illustrator, animator, writer, and comic artist living in Provo, UT. Their work is often inspired by stories of the strange and macabre from art history and literature. Becca has dual master's degrees in writing and literature and can be found online as the Haunted Librarian.
