Artist Statement: "Feline Remnants: A Dark Autumn Reverie" invites viewers to embrace the melancholic beauty of fall, to confront the mysteries of life and death, and to find solace in the intricate tapestry of the natural world, even in its most macabre manifestations.
Artist Bio: Kendra Hitchcock is a contemporary realist oil painter based in Utah. She grew up surrounded by a family of creatives that exposed her to art early on. Her first experience with oil paints was at the age of five. Kendra went on to study and receive her Bachelor of Fine Art (BFA) degree, with an emphasis on drawing & painting, as well as extensive coursework in Art History and a Minor in Digital Media. She has always admired realism and began transitioning from primarily charcoal and graphite works to working in oils during her studies. Though she enjoys experimenting with various mediums in her sketchbooks and smaller art pieces, Kendra paints primarily with oil paint on canvas and panels for her more refined art work. Kendra has exhibited in solo shows, participated in juried shows and art auctions. Her work tends toward a melancholy, memento mori theme. She captures this through strategic lighting, rich dark colors, and symbolically foreboding subjects.
